Hiking up mountains is a really fullfilling way to enjoy nature, not only is there always the question if you'll make it to the top (depending on the height of the mountain), but every step the views change, often radically. So there is a lot to discover by just changing the height and orientation of ones own viewpoint without needing to cover large distances. And the view from the top, across the surrounding countryside is always awesome. But sometimes reaching the top can surprise you in really weird ways - like when you reach the top of Le Petit Dumont in the Vosges mountains in France and you're confronted by the rear end of a herd of sheep gathered on the summit, huddled together with their heads tucked under the shadows that their bodies create to escape the heat.

Bergwandern ist eine wirklich erfüllende Art, die Natur zu genießen. Nicht nur, dass man immer die Frage hat, ob man es bis zum Gipfel schafft (je nach Höhe des Berges), sondern bei jedem Schritt ändert sich die Aussicht, oft radikal. Es gibt also viel zu entdecken, wenn man nur die Höhe und die Ausrichtung des eigenen Standpunkts ändert, ohne große Strecken zurücklegen zu müssen. Und die Aussicht vom Gipfel auf die umliegende Landschaft ist immer wieder beeindruckend. Aber manchmal kann man auf dem Gipfel auch ganz schön überrascht werden - zum Beispiel, wenn man auf dem Gipfel des Le Petit Dumont in den Vogesen in Frankreich ankommt und mit dem Hinterteil einer Schafherde konfrontiert wird, die sich auf dem Gipfel versammelt hat und ihre Köpfe in den Schatten steckt, den ihre Körper erzeugen, um der Hitze zu entkommen.

This is due to it not meeting the requirements that my work brings with it and a severe bug that hasn't been fixed in stable (yet). The world is a crazy place, but windows - you find them everywhere. Currently, I'm looking at quite similar windows in Zagreb (more on Zagreb at a later date), but the architecture of the socialist world reborn as capitalist societies is quite universal. Here we see a postmodern glass facade reflecting an old soviet building block in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The Cascades of Yerevan, that important tourist hotspot on any sightseeing tour of the city, are also quite symbolic of politics and society in Armenia. Elegance meets evening spectacle here in a Soviet-style monumentality that ends abruptly in a construction site, unfinished and also sold to an investor who promised the completion of the site.
But every new crisis in the country is a welcome reason to delay further investment. From the top of the cascades, in good weather, the view would fall on Mount Ararat, Armenia's holy mountain - which today lies in Turkey. The border: closed. In this place in Yerevan, social problems and international conflicts unfold in all directions, like cables on one of the city's electricity poles. An exploration of the reality of life and perspectives for the people of Armenia.
